Test Driving Tips

  • Avoid demonstration models because these may perform differently due to special tuning and adjustments.
  • Consider comfort and roominess.
  • Are the windows and door locks easy to reach and operate?
  • How do the brakes feel when applied? Is the ride smooth at various speeds and on different road surfaces?
  • How is the noise level inside the car?
  • If you have children, check the child safety features.
  • Take notes on each car you drive so you’ll remember everything when you’re making your final decision.

If you decided not to use an OECU AutoSmart dealer, here are a few additional tips:

  • Make a rational decision, not an emotional decision. Don’t purchase anything on your first visit.
  • Give yourself time to evaluate and consider your options.
  • After each test drive, write down the price of the car from the Manufacturers Suggested Retail Price (MSRP) sticker for the options you want. Then go home and compare that price with the invoice or actual dealer cost for that car.
