Oklahoma Employees Credit Union was established in 1954 as a member-owned financial cooperative. As your credit union, we will continually strive to work together with you to meet your needs and to fulfill the credit union philosophy of "People Helping People."
Since 1954, OECU's membership has grown from 19 charter members to over 40,000 members. OECU is a not-for-profit organization and all revenue generated is returned to our members in the form of low or no fees on services, higher dividend rates on accounts, and more competitive loan rates.
1954 - Oklahoma Highway Credit Union and served Oklahoma Highway Department employees and their family members.
1990 - Capitol Credit Union merged into Oklahoma Highway creating our Stiles Branch. Our membership grew to include all state employees whose agency did not have its own credit union and Oklahoma County employees.
1998 - Eastern State Hospital Federal Credit Union members merged into our family creating our Vinita branch.
1999 - A merger with ESEO Federal Credit Union was completed, bringing more state employees, counties and medical facilities to our membership.
2003 – OECU was granted a community charter to meet the financial needs of anyone who lives, works, worships or attends school in Oklahoma, Canadian, Cleveland, Grady, Lincoln, Logan, McClain, or Pottawatomie Counties
2006 – Our NW Expressway and Quail Springs branches open to better serve our community members.
2009 – OKC Thrift Federal Credit Union merged its membership with OECU to create the OPUBCO Branch.
2010 – OECU opened the South OKC Branch in August to better serve the South Oklahoma City/Moore area.
2011 – In April OECU was excited to break ground on their future site on Lincoln Blvd.
2012 – NW Expressway Branch, Stiles Branch, Quail Springs Branch and South OKC Branch become a Credit Union Service Centers.
2012 – The new Capitol Branch opens.
