Community Involvement

Food for thought...for every $100 spent at a locally owned business, $73 remains in the local community. On the other hand, for every $100 spent at a national chain or franchise store, only $43 remains in our community. We believe in the power of keeping it local.

Keep your money local

OECU values the importance of keeping your money local and partners with Keep it Local, Plaza District and Uptown 23rd St on community enhancement initiatives. Don’t be surprised when you find OECU staff passing out goodies from the Treat Trike and volunteering at events around OKC.

It's been our honor and privilege to sponsor a water stop for the Oklahoma City Memorial Marathon for the last 6 years. It's easy to wake up at 4:30 am to set up and cheer for runners who are remembering and honoring a loved one or co-worker with each step of 26.2 miles.

Control your money, don't let it control you

We are happy to offer Dave Ramsey's Financial Peace Course to members and nonmembers around the community. You'll also enjoy free home buyer workshops, seminars about how to improve your credit score and how to defend yourself against identity theft at local venues around Oklahoma City.

It's not about the bottom line

Helping Oklahoma's kids is a cause that is near and dear to our hearts. Over the last 5 years, donations totaling more than $141,000 have been presented to The Children’s Hospital Foundation in Oklahoma City.

Our annual fundraiser Sugar & Spurs was recently recognized as the Fundraising Event of the Year by The Children's Hospital Foundation. Each year at Sugar & Spurs, we partner with local restaurants and sip on locally brewed beer while listening to the story of a local Miracle Child.

In 2016, with credit unions from around the Oklahoma City Metro area, we pledged to raise $1.25 million over the next 5 years to create a Credit Union for Kids Endowed Chair at the Children's Hospital at OU Medical Center.
